Does anyone know about this group?

I was just reading how the Mass. Foundation for the Humanities funded over $2,000 to UMass in Amherst to introduce the newly established New England News Forum. I went to their website and here's the link below.

I'm curious to know what you think about it!

One more comment...

This same Foundation is sponsoring an interesting symposium on Sat., Nov. 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Boston College. It's called "No News is Bad News: The Role of the Media in our Democracy" and features three continuous panels throughout the afternoon discussing such issues as how the public faith in the press can be restored? What are the implications of low public confidence in the media in regards to our democracy?

I'm thinking about going. They have a separate session in the morning for high school students but there is no mention of college. I don't know anything about costs but if I find out more, I'll post it here. Meanwhile, the telephone number is 413-584-8440.

Let me know if you are also thinking about attending!

I'm director of the New England News Forum. I'd love your comments on -- and participation -- in our website, which is very much a work in progress.
